Comments Besides this destination, we later went to Lembeh for a week. Total we had 13 flights and crossed the equator 6 times. We flew out of San Francisco. After October I hear there will be direct flights to Singapore on Singapore Airlines that will eliminate 2 flights and about 6 hours flight time. Other than the long hours of traveling and waiting, the diving was fantastic.

The highlight of this trip was the Whale Sharks that are fed small fish by the native fishermen who consider them good luck. The result is Whale Sharks in the water around their bangas almost all the time, sometimes there were 4, most of the time 1 or 2.

On our 7 day trip we spent 2 days with the Sharks, which I thought was a little excessive, but I was alone with one other guy on that issue. The other diving was great. Especially because this was my first trip to Indonesia, so many of the fish were new to me.

We do plan to go back to dive Raja Ampat on the same boat.
