Comments [None]The Blue Manta is a luxurious liveaboard with rooms the size of a four star hotel, and queen-size beds. On the other hand it lacks the picturesque tall ship allure of many of the Indonesian liveaboards.

This was a change of season transition trip from Sorong, down through Raja Ampat and the Misool area, into the Banda Sea, stopping at the Banda Islands, and ending at Ambon. It did not however include the famous Ambon muck diving sites. For that a stay at Maluku Divers Resort is recommended.

Plenty of variety on this trip--healthy corals especially around Misool, giant coastal and oceanic mantas at Magic Mountain, massive schools of snappers and batfish and jacks especially around the "Too many fish" divesite at the entrance from Raja Ampat to the Banda Sea, tons of olive banded sea snakes around Manuk in the Banda Sea...excellent guides and briefings.

Occasional strong current but only occasional. Good visibility (I find it hard to specify the distance). Diving is from zodiacs.

Enforced diving restrictions [Unspecified]I don't remember about specific depth or time limits or diving profile, but it seemed to be accepted that we would stick with the guide. The diving wasn't very deep, nothing over 30m. Most dives were about an hour. Fairly standard approach.
