Comments The “Hanging Gardens of Bunaken,” I thought to myself as I dove the beautiful and colorful, coral-covered walls. (No, I wasn’t “narced” when my mind made the historical Babylon connection.) I learned at the resort’s educational presentation that cold upwellings on the deep walls are holding off global warming, and that there are 390 species of coral and over 2,000 species of fish in the Marine Reserve, making it a candidate for assignment as a UNESCO World Heritage site.

After a week at Lembeh Resort (fantastic place, see my reader report), we took a 1 hour car ride to Bunaken Oasis’s dock in Manado, where we were greeted with a smile and a wood-paneled beauty of a spacious dive boat.
