Comments Dewi Nusantara, if you can afford it, cannot be missed. You surely do get what you pay for. The boat is huge, the cabins so comfortable (master cabin is unreal it’s so huge), and our dives were some of the best ever. We had whale shark encounters on four dives, and they were close, even swimming up within a foot or two as they fed on anchovies. On other dives we saw some beautiful healthy corals, hard and soft. Most dives were very “fishy”. On one night dive we saw the blue ringed octopus. There are some endemic fish, like the Cenderawasih fairy wrasse. Not many sharks or mantas here, but for us, the whale sharks were enough.
The dive staff and boat crew are really wonderful, our dive master Yan was our best guide ever. The cruise director Rafael was always willing to help and explain. The food was very good and the head steward Hendrix literally ran a tight ship, delivering things on time and as expected. We were lucky, great weather with 9 days of sunshine and one rainy morning.
The camera room is large, the tenders are big, the ladders very stable. Diving made comfortable. We were lucky with just 10 guests, 5 US, 5 Malaysian. It made for lively encounters. Do not miss the Dewi.
