Comments Dewi [procounced DAYwee) Nusantara is a large three-masted phinisi-style vessel. We were on an 11-night "All of Raja Ampat" cruise in November 2024. Life aboard is excellent, with a large saloon, outdoor and indoor dining spaces, and a highly-experienced crew. Cabins are larger than on other liveaboards we've lived aboard. There are many YouTube videos about the Dewi, and I won't repeat what's in them.

There were 14 divers and two snorklers on our trip. One diver was on his 18th voyage aboard the Dewi, and his son was on his seventh or so; two were on their third, and one was on his second. Dive briefings were solid, and the dive guides are top-notch. Several, including we, had private guides, which add $100 per day to the tariff but were well worth it for low-and-slow photographers.

The routine was familiar to those who've done liveaboards. First breakfast started at 6:00 or so, with the first dive usually briefed at seven, with some variation for tides or so that we did not encounter divers from other boats. Full breakfast was ordered before the first dive; western and Indonesian food was available, and perfectly prepared. The second dive briefed between 10-11a, followed by a buffet lunch. Third dive usually at 2p, with time to relax, fiddle with gear, etc. Night dives every night, usually a ~7p departure; those not diving were served dinner while the night divers were out, and we (we missed only one night dive; usually 6-8 total night divers) were served dinner on our return.

The food is outstanding; I can't recall any dinner which would not have met our standards in a fine-dining restaurant.

We dove for four days around the Dampier Strait, from Cape Kri to Melissa's Garden, west to Yangello and Penemu, and then south to Misool; an expected day further north to Wofoh was aborted due to weather, which gave us extra time in Misool, with its exquisite soft corals. This was our first time to Raja Ampat; suffice it to say that all expectations were exceeded, including even a couple of excellent muck sites. We've booked a second passage on the Dewi, this one to Cenderawasih Bay, and very much look forward to it.

A final word--"No current, no fish." There are many, many fish, of course, and we did encounter some quite-ripping currents. We put our muck sticks to good use, and were on reef hooks several times.

UW Photo Comments Dewi Nusantara has an excellent camera room just off the dive deck. Dual voltages are available, with current smoothers throughout. Cameras are moved to the skiffs and back to the dive deck by the dive staff. Guides are knowledgeable and have an excellent eye for both critters and wide-angle composition.
