Comments Dive Demaii contunes to have great service and is an outstanding boat. This was a charter with Coral Reef Aliiance so it was great to have their people on the trip discussing the reefs, climate change, etc. The downside was that there were a number of very inexperienced divers on board which is not something I’ve ever seen on a liveabord. This put different pressures on the dive director since Komodo and it’s sites are not really for beginners.

Dive sites were great, no trash (in the park), beautiful corals, and great fish life. What really surprised me was the large number of dive and day snorkel boats everywhere. I think of liveabord diving as being a way to get away from crowded sites but that was not true here. Timing of dives so you weren’t in a dive rush hour worked most of the time but I would often surface near a group of snorkelers or other divers. I would not select the Komodo itinerary again, not because of the diving, but because of the large number of boats in the park. The Komodo trip on Rinca was a great afternoon and worth doing.
