Comments Dive into Ambon offers a variety of diving (weather permitting) that their competition (Maluku divers, does not) beautiful reef diving in combination with muck diving. It was nice to have a variety of diving for our week stay prior to the liveaboard.
The resort is partnered with dive into Ambon and the dive shop is on the ocean side of the resort. They have 2 boats moored out front of the dive shop and this makes for easy access when diving the outer reefs from the shops location. If your muck diving, it is a car ride to the other side of ambon bay. This ride is varied depending on the traffic (10 to 20 minutes).
Most diving in Ambon bay is very close to the competition ( maluku divers), however the food, and accommodations are reportedly less than desirable to the Maluku resort at the dive into ambon facilities. (I know the names are confusing).
For Ambon bay diving it's about a 30 to 40 minute boat ride with dive into Ambon to the muck sites due to the amount of plastic waste in the bay, speeds are slower as props are always becoming fouled.
Is it worth it to travel to Ambon exclusively, maybe, but if you have a lay over or transiting through then for sure dive here.
Overall we had a good time and enjoyed the operation. You could do 3 or 4 dives a day. The hotel has a nice pool to relax in after returning from diving and the dive shop has a great beer fridge.
I was not sure which room to book, so we stayed in the cottages, if I go back I would opt for the studio. It is difficult for the AC to cool the cottages, and going up and down and outside for the bathroom in the cottage at night was a bit of a drag.
I really have no negatives on the resort based dive operation other than the food served at lunch, which were leftover dinners.
The food was a bit of a negative for me with my food allergies, but the owners at dive into ambon, kept the resort staff on their toes.
Ambon has a movie theater and small mall with a great coffee shop and locally made camping gear store. We picked up a larger dry bag, a must for the long days on the dive boats.
The culture in Ambon is super friendly and helpful. We never felt unsafe.
