Comments I would not go to Bali for less than 2 weeks due to the 24 hour travel time to get there and the 2 1/2 hour ride to Amed. We stayed at Villa Candi Matahari a 5 bedroom villa with a staff of 5 plus a driver and a very new van to transport us wherever we wanted to go. I found the best exchange rate for IDR was at the ATM. This villa was incredible. Definitely 5 star. The staff would cook for us or we could go out to many fine restaurants. Each room had on outdoor private shower and very good air-conditioning (I like a cold room). A 1 hour massage next to our infinity pool was $7.50. My son rented a scooter at a very cheap rate to buzz around on. Bring your 1 liter allotment of liquor if you want because its hard to find and expensive. Bintang beer is cheap and plentiful.

Roda our dive master was terrific. I would call it organized chaos the way everything always came together. The dive shop took us and the equipment to the dive site and local porters carried our equipment to the beach. Everything was always delivered on time. The women could carry two tanks with BC's at a time. I'm 73 with a torn rotator cuff and Roda was a great help to me on all the diving. The dive shop was a 5 minute walk from our villa. Most diving was from the shore but some drift diving was from a motorized outrigger that carried 2 divers. We put our BC on in the water. Its the warmest (90) that I've ever been in and the reef was incredibly healthy though no big animals in Amed. Lots of nudibranchs, giant clams, anemones with clown fish, and frog fish. We drove 2 hours to dive with Geko Dive in Pedang Bay. We went to the island of Nusa Penida for a dive with Mantas and that was incredible.
