Comments I visited Gangga Island Resort for the 3rd time in September, 2017. My last previous visit was in 2014. The resort continues to be very well maintained. All the bungalows are very spacious with lots of room, TV, very good WIFI, and a large well lit bathroom. The room itself could use a bit more lighting. The bungalows have a large patio with lounge chairs. All the rooms face west so there were several spectacular sunsets. The resort has a large salt water pool and spa. The grounds are well maintained.

The dining area is large and spacious and provides specific tables for each bungalow. Breakfast is buffet with an egg station; waffles and pancakes are also made-to-order. Lunch and dinner are ordered from menus that change daily offering both Western and Indonesian selections. Meals were generous and generally prepared nicely with an occasional over-cooked item. The bar had the usual selections but no premium brands.

The resort offers a very nice camera room with individual work stations, lots of power outlets, fan, A/C and camera clothes. There is a large camera rinse outside the camera room.

The dive operation is well run with dive guides who are quite experienced and knowledgable. The usual dive routine is 2 AM dives, return to resort for lunch then 1 PM dive. The many dive sites included Gangga, Lihaga, Talisei, Banka and North Sulawesi Islands. I had a private dive guide at a very reasonable price. Dolfi is an excellent critter finder and great dive buddy. He was always ready to help and assure a great experience. He fixed my leaky floatable strobe arm.
The dive boats are the typical wooden, Indonesian-style rigs; very spacious and comfortable.

Regarding some recent developments around Gangga Island, the gold mine operation on the southwest point of Banka Island has been shut down. Also, there is a new resort being built on the east side of Gangga Island.

In closing, I can reaffirm that Gangga Island Resort is a great place for relaxing and diving with staff that is very friendly and helpful at all times. Terima Kasih -- I hope to return.

UW Photo Comments Resort has a very nice camera room as described below. The dive boats could use a bit larger camera rinse tanks.

The marine life is abundant and is best suited for macro photography.
