Comments PUTRI PAPUA Saved Our vacation from Covid-19.
The April 2020 Pearl of Papua cruise was cancelled due to the Indonesian border blockade, we asked MV.Pearl of Papua to reschedule the April 2020 cruise for May 2023. However, Pearl of Papua didn’t accept our offer. Our payment for 12 divers is still in her pocket,
Due to their repeated requests for changes in conditions and large additional fees made us uneasy about Pearl of Papua, so we decided to look for another live-aboard tailored to our vacation schedule.
Finally Ground Komodo arranged MV Putri Papua for us according to the schedule we had planned.
We decided to enjoy the cruise on MV. Putri Papua to get a fresh start, which we paid only the cost of the additional payment required by Pearl of Papua. Putri Papua saved us. They were a life saver and took us to Misool in the southern part of Raja Ampat for the first time, even though it was only a 7 night cruise.
The coral reef in Misool is very colorful. We also had a majestic encounter with the long-awaited Oceanic manta rays at a point called Magic Mountain. We also saw a Parent and Child dolphins swimming underwater for the first time.
After Misool, we returned to Dampier Strait, where we were able to visit the points we had requested. This time, we also had another encounter with OCEANIC MANTA at the famous Blue Magic . The visibility of all of the dive sites were excellent compared to the last cruise aboard Raja Ampat Explorer in 2022. We were able to take video and photos of schools of batfish, rainbow runners and so on. The boat was small, but the cruising was very stable without any problems. The local dive master was very knowledgeable about the area.
One of our divers was a victim of lost baggage and did not receive her equipment, but we were provided with rental gear. Since we could not search for the lost baggage from the boat, we stopped at the Raja Ampat Lodge managed by Grand Komodo, from where staff contacted the flight company to secure the bags that arrived at the Sorong airport, which was a relief.
By the way, we asked Oceanic to apply all the deposit we paid before Corona to Oceanic's first post-Corona cruise expenses.
Please check my report “Oceanic: "World class diving at rarely dived sites!." in 2022.,
Other ships also seem to have had the deposit applied to future cruises, although I have seen inappropriate reports regarding problem caused by Covide-19 in Undercurrent. Regarding Liveaboard.com, it appears that all cruise lines offer the same service, the actual response varies greatly from ship to ship. In this case, we again realized the importance of the undercurrent Divers' report. Since the total amount of the cruise fee paid to Pearl of Papua has not been refunded, we have decided to leave the negotiations regarding this issue to our lawyer in Jakarta. We would appreciate it if you could let us know if you have any similar booking problem arising from COVID-19.
