Comments I have been diving with Grand Komodo since 1995, and have been on many trips on all of their dive boats. The crew is always helpful and have great attitudes. They really want to make your dive experience enjoyable. What I truly like about Grand Komodo is that all the crew and owners are Indonesian, and I love their culture. This was my second trip to their first Land Resort on the island of Mansuar (Raja Ampat) near Sorong. The only downside of the resort is getting there. If you fly from Bali to Unjung Pandang (Makasar) on Sulawesi you usually need to do an overnight. Then fly to Sorong (Irian Jaya), and take a small boat to the Resort Island. The Bungalows are well made out of wood with plenty of room. They have AC, electric lockboses, and ensuite bathrooms. The rooms are always clean and very comfortable. On the veranda outside your room the view is beautiful and very quiet. I took the regular dive package (2 dives per day). The dive sites are great with plenty of corrals (soft and hard), multitudes of colorful tropical fish and clear water. Some of the dive sites are the same ones that the liveaboard boats dive at, including one with many Mantas. The main lodge has Internet and Television and a bar. The food on my second trip was far better than the first trip. The chef provides indonesian style food, and also western style with great presentations of the variety of dishes available. Overall, I would not hesitate to return to the Resort for a great vacation, and would suggest it to anyone going to Indonesia for diving and relaxation. The Divemaster (Pablito) gave excellent dive briefings. If you wanted to see certain critters, they always made sure that you would see them (almost always). I was unable to see the Pygmy Seahorses because I forgot my magnifing glass. Great diving, great quality food, great accomodations (and as usual, like their liveaboards, the price is less expensive), great friendly and knowledgeable crew, and wonderful friendly Indonesian people. What more could you ask for?? For their first land resort, I believe Grand Komodo is once again out in front of everyone else. Everything on the liveaboards and the Land resort is not "HIGH CLASS", but certainly comfortable, clean and affordable. Since beginning to dive with Grand Komodo in 1995, it has been amazing to me to watch their services get better and better. Grand Komodo will always be my number one choice for liveaboard diving with comfortable clean rooms, great and plentiful food, and friendly, knowledgeable diving staff.
