Comments Likely would not recommend the Komodo Dancer mostly because they promised hot water in cabins and delivered NONE the whole 7 night trip. Food was not good and always from frozen. Bugs in bed, A/C dripped on bed in cabin, and no free nitrox which I saw on an earlier website and thought we'd get. Company not interested in comp-ing us for lack of hot water. If you do not care about hot water book the Ondina which was about $500 per person less with NO HOT WATER. Clearly the Malaysian owners are taking profits one way and not investing in maintenance of the vessel. We wanted a moderately priced boat but this was not comfy.
Good part: good company, good DM's , and always felt safety was first. DM's checked sites before putting us in, knew Komodo N PK and we dove low current. They could have improved on a few dive sites but all in all the area is magnificent and hard to ruin a trip even with less than promised accommodations. Recommend divers dive Komodo National Park for the coral and marine life diversity and clarity of the water.
Stayed at the new Komodo Resort on Sebayur Island to add some more time to the 7 night liveaboard dive trip...Italian resort just getting up and running (1.5 years). Has promise but DM not as familiar with raging currents and dive sites. Dove a couple of days there in strong currents far off the dive site to see Mantas,,,did see them but everyone was out of air when we got to them.
Food was great, and accommodations nice after the Dancer liveaboard so that was a nice break...last dive day DM took us to a calm area and I got some of my best shots as DM came through and knew where to look for gorgeous anenomies, nudibranchs etc. on the last day. Wished we'd had a third dive day. Just goes to show-you never know how it will be...need time.
Final diving was done in Tulamben at the fantastic Villa Markessa. Dove liberty wreck early am. but the biggest surprise was the house reef Seraya Secrets-night dive for wonderful critters. DM's Darma, Karma, and Barma all brothers were well trained at critter ID and location. Christianne, owner is a wonderful hostess, runs a first class operation, and is a fantastic macro photographer. I have not enjoyed a more gorgeous environment as the resort, all buildings, furniture, textiles were custom designed by her and the experience is one you will not find again. Enjoy-but Bali diving is not Komodo so a couple of dive days is enough.
Also-if you are going that far to Indonesia, stop off in Yogaharta and overnight a couple of nights to rid yourself of jet lag in Java and tour Borobudur, sunrise tour, an 8th century Buddhist temple-largest one and a true wonder of the world. A trip like this requires at least three weeks.
Komodo was the best diving of the trip so do a 10 day boat trip in the national park if that is all the time you have. Cheers.

UW Photo Comments Dancer had a counter for cameras and we all were considerate of others. We shared the electrical outlets in the dining area between dives as well. All guests got along well.
