Comments Took the easy route for a week long trip and went back to Lumbalumba to visit Roel & Judd before finishing our Singapore assignment next summer. This is the start of the monsoon according to the calendar and it has started. Resort is closed from Dec to March due to the weather, mainly rough seas.

Diving is a mix of out to Bunaken island for wall dives and then back in for the third dive along the Manado coast. Rain run off starting to effect the visibility but still 30 to 60 ft. Water temperature a warm 86 to 87 degrees. Lots of small critters but not so many large ones this time. Did run across some risso dolphins but they are not very social. Saw sharks on a night dive but deeper than us so didn't investigate. Came up to lightning and rain as hard as hail from the night dive but well worth it from the pics. Plenty of reef fish and lots of tuna and jacks on one wall dive.

Dive boat is the best in the area, a level deck catamaran with twin diesels. Water entry is giant stride from the back and back up a ladder after handing up the gear. Does about 10 knots so the trip out to the island is just over an hour. If lucky you will meet the dolphins and whales. Over to the island for two dives then lunch on the way back before the third dive. Lots of people get dropped off after two dives and do not make the third dive.

Must have been tired from work because I really enjoyed the resort. Airport pick up and drop off. Think a european guest house in a tropical garden (her work). Breakfast is european but no meat but eggs any way you want. Then dinner in the evening, an excellent assortment of local dishes along with music and the available bar.

If you like cooking go to dinner early and get a cooking lesson from the chef John.

Some of the dive guides act as local tour guides available for your day of rest before flying. A trip to the highlands is worth doing and the market in Tomohon is worth seeing. It is a market the way most markets used to be.
