Comments This was my third time diving the Komodo area on Mermaid II. It's the best diving I have experienced, so I keep repeating. We saw an incredible assortment of sea life. Some of my favorites included a leaf scorpion fish, barracudas, porcelain crabs, turtles, sting rays, marble rays, several sharks (white-tipped, black-tipped, nurse), a ribbon eel, an octopus, a cuttlefish, a crocodile fish, a hairy squat lobster, a pygmy seahorse, a star gazer, an electric clam, a long fin squid, various shrimp (skeleton, emperor, tiger mantis), tons of nudibranchs, and a two dives with 3-4 giant manta rays swimming about and making some very close passes. All of the sites had healthy coral and most had abundant fish life. The crew was great and my dive leader, Ketut, was excellent. Without him I would have missed half the stuff listed above. The boat is perhaps a step below luxurious, but it is clean with spacious common areas. My cabin was small but efficient with an en suite bathroom. Dive and safety briefings were excellent. Overall, just a great trip.

Dive Experience 101-250 dives
Where else diving Monterey, Maui, Cozumel, Utila, Similan Islands, Puerto Galera.
Closest Airport Denpasar Getting There This was a Flores to Bali trip. I booked a one-way flight from Bali to Maumere on Garuda, which cancelled without notification. Fortunately, I was able to get on a Wings flight that got me to Maumere a couple of hours late, but soon enough to board my boat before it departed.
