Comments I visited there with a group of 20 mostly very experienced divers from Mexico City. We took a 4 hour fast boat ride from Sorong to Misool Eco Resort (MER). Upon arrival we were shown the facilities (dive center, restaurant, rooms, etc.) and were offered immediately a first checkup dive at the House Reef. The resort is beautifully kept; rooms are very nice and spacious (especially the Villas). There's A/C and fans in all of them. Most are over water and there are 7 Villas with a private beach. You'll need a good Insect Repellent.
They have established a No Take Zone (NTZ) in what once was a shark finning area and work with the Indonesian Government to ban shark and manta fishing there and everywhere.
There are a couple of dive sites, Magic Mountain and Nudy Rock, which are like Disneyland and all other places have fantastic corals and we saw Pacific and Reef Mantas, Blacktip, Grey Reef and White Tip Sharks, Wobbegongs, Octopus, Barracuda, Napoleon Wrasses, Spanish Mackerel, Lionfishes, Pigmy Seahorses, Harlequin Shrimps, Orang Utan Crabs, Squid, Lobsters, Pipefishes, Turtles, Batfishes, Bumphead Parrotfishes, Scorpionfishes. At Cafe D'Break nightdive Walking Sharks and Cuttlefishes.
Food and service are great. Everyone smiles and attends to your every wish. They have lots of very good non diving activities which we intend to do on our next trip there.
I especially commend them on their efforts to protect and keep the NTZ and educate locals and Government Officials on the treasure they have in their Ocean Environment. Hats off to them and we´re definitely returning for a 12 night stay asap.

I forgot to rate the overall photography UWP's (sorry) and I give it a 5 Star rating. Thanks, Mario Mizrahi

Many thanks for your report. I am planning to go to Misool Eco Resort in a year and all I for is very useful. As my wife is not a diver (but a snorkeler), I am concerned that it could be boring to her. Could you please offer any comments regarding non-diving activities?
