Comments This was our third trip to Murex Bangka and once again we had a wonderful time. Don't go here if you want a five star experience, but do go here if you want great diving, great dive professionals, very friendly staff and a relaxed atmosphere. This resort has been here for a number of years but recently upgraded as Murex manageement has been absorbed by the team that runs the dive operation at Lembeh Resort. We went again with friends and they had a room at one end of the beach and our's was at the other end -- a whole three minute walk. Meals were plentiful and served in the large restaurant area. The resort now has more dive boats and usually sends out two or three per dive with maybe 10 people split up into groups of maybe 4 divers. The rooms are basic with great beds and simple furnishings; the older rooms have bathrooms outside (not being in the new cabins I'm not sure about the four new rooms). However, electricity comes on at 5 pm and off at 7 am, so there's a/c at night.
The new management has also introduced "passport to paradise", a quite fun way to experience three resorts: Lembeh Resort, Murex Bangka and Murex Manado with boat transfers (and dives along the way). We did two of the three locations before and next April will do the last leg (bangka to manado).
If you want a great diving experience in a simple, relaxed friendly destination near Lembeh, go to Murex Bangka!
