Comments	Our fourth Oceanic cruise was Oceanic's first post-Covid-19 cruise. Oceanic offers four cruises between Maumere and Kupang only in May and September, when the waters are stable. The cruise was originally scheduled from Maumere to Kupang via Alor, but due to some circumstances it was changed to a departure from Labuan Bajo. This meant a long-distance voyage of 900 km in nine days. Diving starts from the wall off Maumere. After northern area of Maumere, we sailed to many isolated islands in the southwestern part of Flores Island. Shore excursions are very specially offered such as Lamalera, where traditional whale fishing is allowed. Many isolated islands dot the waters off the islands in between. We then entered the Strait of Alor from the north and enjoyed wall diving on the western wall of Alor and muck diving on Pulau Pura. From there it was a long cruise via Pulau Batek in Kupang. in Timor Island. The layout of the ship is unique, with no passageways on either side of the ship, which allows for a spacious living area. There were guests from Austria, New Zealand, USA, The diving was world class. We were the only divers on the reefs. No other dive boats. Diving ranged from steep walls with swift currents, sometimes washing machine to muck dives with a variety of macro critters. We saw white tip sharks, Wobbegong shark, whitetip, bamboo shark and rare coral cat shark. Schooling spices are surgeon fish, rainbow runner, bigeye and fusilier. Fortunately, we could encounter a small school of threadfin trevally on a night dive. Rhinopias encounter is guaranteed on the reefs of Pula Island in Alor. The hard and soft corals are pristine and vibrant. During a solo dive, I found a huge swim through on the north side of Batek island that even the local guide did not know about. This is the last dive of this cruise and will be confirmed on the next cruise. We can’t wait to go back on the Oceanic to the somewhere rare destination!
