Comments | The walls of Bunaken are in good shape and nice to dive. But crowding 24 of us onto one boat for an all-day outing was just too much of a cattle boat to call this good diving. They divided us into smaller groups (national park rules say no more than 4 guests with a guide, but we had groups of 5) each with a guide, but the groups went into the water so close together that there was a crowd on the reef. Our guide (Jeffry) was good, but the dive management had some real communication problems with their staff and the rest of the resort. The rooms and the grounds were nice, and there was a good variety of food. My dive buddy is a strict vegetarian who confirmed months in advance that they could meet her needs, yet her arrival was a surprise and the first day's dive boat had no lunch for her. | ||

UW Photo Comments | Boats go out for all three dives without returning to the resort. There is no opportunity to charge or change lenses during the day. Last minute decisions were made on destinations, resulting in dragging a wide-angle setup around in the muck. They have a nice camera room at the resort, though it has no A/C or even ventilation, resulting in sweltering heat so that I dripped sweat onto the ants in my housing. |
