Comments The Good - It was all VERY good! But you do pay for it - it's not the cheapest place. We always plan at least an extra day if not 2 before having to catch a charter flight or board a boat to start a trip. As soon as you land in Bali, a Wakatobi Rep is there to speed you around everyone else, through Customs and to your local Hotel. You do not have to pay extra for the VIP service. They run a very nice Travel Agency on Bali with day trip programs, Hotel booking, hiring a driver/tour guide and expert advice on anything you might want to do or buy. They pre-arrange to pick you up with plenty of time to catch your Wakatobi chartered flight from Bali to the Island and because it's a Wakatobi flight there is no problem with luggage or carry on. I travel with cameras, lights and underwater cases for it all so I have 2 carry ons that are sized (for international flying) to fit in the overhead and 2 checked bags and I had no trouble on Korean Air or the Wakatobi flight - check with your carrier for allowances. Once there, it's all about making and keeping you happy with an emphasis on diving. 3 boat dives a day is the standard, but if I were to go back I might opt for 2 morning boat dives and 2 house reef afternoon dives. The diving is excellent - the reefs are pristine and the fish are plentiful. Lot's of unusual fish, nudi's, cuttlefish, etc.. If there is some critter you want to see ask a guide and they will try to find it for you - what more can you ask for?

The Bad? Really nothing bad. We had to go back home? Oh, Ok… We missed the village tour because of Ramadan, and it rained a couple of times for about an hour each time. Never missed any diving or meals! By the way the food was Awesome! My wife is a vegi-burner and they always came up with something good for her.

A very well run resort in a great location with plenty of back up gear and people to keep it going smooth - Perfect!

Closest Airport Their own. It takes a short car ride, a walk & a boat ride Getting There Fly to Bali - we flew Korean Air with a layover in Seoul. We found that if we left from Chicago, O'hare, there was only a 2 hr. layover each way ;) From Bali Wakatobi Charters a local airline plane to fly direct!

UW Photo Comments Rinse bucket was about 3' round and 4' deep. Plenty of room on camera platform unless every one has a camera - at times it almost seemed so! Guides are great at pointing out critters. There a one or two dive guides that are UWP's and will offer advice and tips when asked. They will also help find bucket list critters and talk about what to look for on each dive.
