Comments This was our second trip to Wakatobi/Pelagian. We spent 2 weeks on the Pelagian in December, 2007. The Pelagian was all that the Wakatobi advertising leads you to expect. The operation is well organized. The people are very customer service oriented. The cabins (even the cheap ones) are comfortable. The food is very good. The tenders get you to the dive sites quickly. Most sites were within about 10 minutes of the boat, although we did go out to one site that was about 20 minutes away. The only downside at this point is that the reefs are not as healthy and the fish life not as prolific as our previous trip. There was lots of dead coral and sand where there used to be healthy reefs. The sites that used to have clouds of anthias at the top of the reef now had just a few or none at all. Also, there were some great muck sites we visited in 2007 that we were not allowed to visit on this trip. It seems that commercial activity has picked up in the bay where the muck sites are located (Which is great for the local economy.) so that there is too much boat traffic to allow diving there. That said, the rest of the folks on the boat really liked it as none of them had been there before and did not have the high level of expectations that we did.
