Comments Trekked across Malaysian Borneo with Wild Planet Adventures [GREAT animals including orangutan & elephants & sun bears oh my]! Their service and logistics are spectacular- go now before the oil palm deforestation gets worse.

Ended up at Kapalai for a couple days of diving. The diving [on their interesting house reef] was quite good for small stuff although house reef viz only about 40'. Sipadan was spectacular, lots of big schooling fish and sharks, and healthy coral, viz 80'+. Dive masters and crew all smoked between dives.

Kapalai is physically beautiful but we would NOT recommend going there. It is huge and was occupied mostly by Chinese nationals. Lots of snorkelers walking on the house reef! Very poor wifi, no common areas to relax except your room. Our room was very nice however. Meals were buffet, and there was a 'scrum' when each meal started- people pushing and grabbing. We saw a Malaysian server whack a diner with a serving spoon when he reached into a common bowl to grab something! People would fill 4-5 plates and then leave 75% of their food behind, sad. The food quality also was poor. Unidentifiable meat chunks with odd bones.

We met some people at Sipadan from Maabul- looks a bit more western friendly.
