Divers are not allowed to dive within 12 hours of arrival at the Bandos Island Resort. This is because they believe people arriving here after long flights are often dehydrated and very tired possibly making people more vulnerable to the bends. Dive shop does not provide sufficient water for divers, so buy your own bottle in the adjacent store. Dive shop is clean and professional. The divemasters and instructors are top notch and professional. This shop should market itself more - difficult to find much information on the web site. THe house reef is extraordinarily good. Everyone must perform a "checkout dive" on the house reef. My dive buddy was made to do some skills such as reg removal and the out of air PADI handshake drill as receiver. I was not made to, possibly because I am an OWSI? Boat dives were great and the launch was quite roomy. Saw several mantas on my first dive to a manta cleaning station. Divemaster was knowledgeable and pointed out critters well. Boat tips are automatically added to the fee. $40 per dive + $15 for the boat +10% "service fee" This means shore dives are still $40 each - they maybe should rethink this. 10% fee still applies to shore dives! Resort only appeared to be 30-40% full. |
