Comments This was our first trip to the Deep South of the Maldives, having previously dived several times in the Central atolls. This trip had significantly more shark encounters. It was mostly suitable for advanced divers, with strong currents featuring on many dives and reef hooks used several times.

The logistics were relatively straightforward. A direct flight from London to Male and then a relatively short transit before catching a domestic fixed wing flight from Male to Gan airport in Addu Atoll. There we were met by the liveaboard crew and transferred by dhoni to the liveaboard. We had to overnight at the airport hotel on the way back as our domestic flight connection didn't allow us to catch our international flight. The Hulhule Island Hotel is close to the airport and the facilities are reasonable. The do "day packages" with food/pool access if you have a long transit
