Comments Blue Voyager holds 26 passengers and we had a full house for our one week itinerary. A friendly group of Brits, we two Americans, and a couple from France. Always nice when all in the group are competent, confident, and sensitive divers. As in all Maldives liveaboard, a dhoni follows along, and holds all dive gear; all dives start from the dhoni that motors to the dive site. We did not feel that crowded despite the large group, with ample space for storage of gear, preparing for dive.
Three dives a day are standard, two night dives during the week. If you are hardcore and are looking for 4-5 dives per day, there are a few other equally nice boats to consider. But 3-4 good dives are plenty for us. Very skilled, considerate, and friendly caring cruise directors from Spain and Belgium. They conducted unique and entertaining briefings.
Food is ample, diverse, filling and among the best we have ever had on a liveaboard. Crew is also very seasoned, professional and we enjoyed our cabin and time on the boat between dives immensely. Comfortable space for all 26 of us. Liquor is of course a bit more expensive than other places (e.g. $7 for a beer, cocktails for $9 -Maldives taxes on alcohol).
With Europeans as the main customers, be prepared for a bit more smoking than on some vessels, but only in designated outdoor sections of the boat.
Master Liveaboards is a well run company it appears, and attention to detail, safety, and customers is noticed and appreciated. Such great value in Maldives, with a week in the deluxe cabin under $2500.
If you have never been to the Maldives, worth adding to your bucket list, despite the distance -- but go to Indonesia, Coral Triangle areas first as diving is incrementally better with more life and corals.
