Comments This was our second time on the Manthiri and in the Maldives (last year was our first). This year we were with a larger group (12 people as opposed to 5 last year, all of whom were delightful company) on a 9-day trip organized by Dive Utah. We were met at the airport and transported to our hotel (the Sala Thai hotel and - great -Thai restaurant), and then transported the following morning to the Manthiri. The Manthiri and its dhoni are excellent boats with an outstanding crew. DMs are really great, and food is outstanding (including fresh-caught fish and sashimi when the fishing gods willed it). We went north last year and south this year. Except for finding whale sharks this year, the diving and reef life were similar. Lots of mantas, tropical fish, critters and nudis, etc., all of which Ali and Mussa were terrific at finding. There seemed to be a few more boats this year (probably because the weather was somewhat stormy and windy), but we were never crowded. Most of our dives (Nitrox) were in the 60-minute range. Camera facilities on the dhoni consisted of a large tank, with a large workbench on the Manthiri. All gear was stored on the dhoni. Bunks were comfortable with adequate storage for several suitcases and dive bags. The lounge is comfortable and there is plenty of space up top for sun worshipers. Certainly a bucket-list experience!
