Comments The only reason we went to RUI is that they would take divers on short notice. PADI.com helped set this up, when another resort decided they did not want to take divers during covid-19 pandemic. We were rather stuck in the Maldives, so we went to RUI. Our first week was diving on liveaboard Novo Carpe and the diving was excellent, and Ari Atoll was superb. RUI is on Dhaalu Atoll which is not nearly as good diving. We saw some nurse sharks, a few eagle rays, eels, and some lovely coral. There were few other divers. The staff at the RUI was very friendly and helpful, most from Sri Lanka, big smiles. The food was excellent, but the two dive masters enforced 45 minutes and 18 meter depth, which was irritating. The boat crew was mediocre, and after one dive we spent 30 to 40 minutes in the water waiting for the boat; they didn't even check the current and apparently went the wrong way, didn't follow our bubbles. Lots of Russians here. Resort an all you can eat and drink, included in price, so lots of hungry, thirsty Russians, who generally are not friendly. We would not return. Perhaps this is for honeymooners who want a beautiful walk on beaches and lovely new cabins.
