Comments	I have been a member of Undercurrent for nearly 20 years and have never read a review on diving near Chania Greece. The diving is really good for advanced divers. Scuba diving with Chania Diving Center is a top notch dive shop with high quality rental gear, multiple dive boats, and are setup to service snorkelers, new students, experienced, and technical divers. I was there in September when the water was a balmy 26C/79 F. The vis was surprisingly good. We dove amazing caves that rival the great Cathedrals of Europe for splendor. The Elephant cave has a petrified Mastodon skeleton. Kathedral cave contains a recently discovered pile of artifacts and pottery from the Minoans. The Thera eruption and resulting earthquakes and tsunami created an opening from the sea to the aquifer making the well water undrinkable. The artifacts were things that fell into the well over time 35 centuries ago! The second dive included the WW1 wreck Minnewaska where there we saw groupers, lots of smaller fish, and the dreaded lion fish. Crete may not be a major scuba diving destination but if you are visiting Greece bring you mask and c-card and enjoy surprisingly good diving.
