Comments The explorer is a sturdy boat built for colder waters and heavy seas. We had 7 to 9 foot swells. The service is good, the crew friendly. Socorro is the place to see big stuff. We saw hammerheads, silky, Galapagos, some sightings of dolphin, none too close. Socorro has mantas that can measure twenty feet from wingtip to wingtip. My issue is they have only one dive master in the water no matter how many divers. I went alone and had to hire a private guide. I've been on many other liveaboards, and they all have more than one dive master in the water.
