Comments My Rocio Del Mar trip was August 13th-20th, 2011. This was my first liveabord trip. I must say I may be hooked! Lolo the ship’s Captain did an excellent job to ensure the boat was always in the calmest water possible. We didn't have anyone on board experience any seasickness. The crew including Dora, Ray, Bob, and many others are the true gem of this boat. It felt like we were visiting a family and we were guest on their boat rather than being customers, they really made us feel welcome and met and exceeded all of our needs/expectations. The boat can handle 22 divers; the week we were on board we had 15 guests so we had plenty of space. The daily schedule is light breakfast 6-7am with first dive at 0730 followed by a cooked to order breakfast then dive #2 . Next is lunch followed by dive #3, lunch was great, each day chef Pedro always had something good planned for each meal, I didn’t make any request prior to arriving, but I am a picky eater and don’t care for sea food and I was completely satisfied with all meals including the days when the main dish was fish and I was made an alternate dish. Then we took a break and did a late afternoon dive prior to supper. We completed 19 dives during the week, including 2 night dives. A huge highlight of the week was the day that Lolo found Sperm whales for us to snorkel with. It is right up there with my all time most exciting diving experiences, This trip also delivered two more species of whales, we didn’t snorkel with them but we saw many fin back and pilot whales while traveling between dive sights. Dolphins seemed to always be present when the boat was underway. There were so many I couldn’t count them. On at least one dive when we surfaced they were there, the crew was great they took our BCD’s aboard the Panga’s and we were allowed to stay in the water to snorkel with them. My wife had one swim up to her for an eye to eye encounter. The last highlight of the week is Friday afternoon when you snorkel with Whale Sharks. We had 6 to 7 whale sharks that allowed us to swim with them as they were feeding. Again I hate overstated this, but this trip was awesome! The dives were conducted from 2 Panga’s (inflatable boats) in addition to the highlights listed above we had abundant fish life. On most dives we had Sea Lions, Octopus, Angel Fish, Trigger fish, several different ray species, and many more. All though not on every dive we also found Giant Jaw fish, garden eels, lobster, hawksbill turtles, and sea horses.

This was a wonderful trip on a great boat with an excellent crew. I am sure we will be back to travel with them again. The trip we were on departed from Rocky Point and we dove in the Midriff Islands, my wife and I are hoping to go on the Socorro Islands trip next!

UW Photo Comments crew very good in assisting with gear, nice camera table on dive deck with plenty of power outlets on camera table and in cabins, in addition to media room for editing photos. Luis(Boat photographer) was great always there to assist if you had question. Camera table also has low pressure drying air.
