Comments This trip was different from the standpoint that to get there and back was interesting. I never thought I'd go to Phoenix to go diving. But getting to the boat was handled very well and went smooth. The people at "Head Out to Rocky Point" are a well oiled machine. They've been there, done that and it showed.
The Rocio del Mar crew were the same. Once on the boat the crew was also a well oiled machine. They each had primary duties but I observed all of them doing whatever was needed at the time. From serving meals to leading our people as dive-master to cleaning and PM they all had our comfort, satisfaction and safety in mind at all times. The only rating I dropped to 4 stars on was the food. They started out shaky (too much salt the first night) recovered nicely for the remainder of the trip until the last dinner which was "fishy" and not very edible. In between though the meals were excellent. No complaints at all! As an early riser I much appreciated the coffee pot full at 5:30 AM and the continental breakfast before our first dive of the day. After our dive day was finished the beer/wine supply was well-stocked with good choices.
The diving was different from my usual Caribbean sites. Soft coral only and lots of rocks for the little critters to roam. This was mainly a macro trip with the exceptions of the whalesharks and the sea lions. As a Camera+Gopro nut I had my hands full. I'm very happy I brought both as the macros were handled by the camera and the whalesharks & sea lions were handled by the Gopro. The diving went from no current to heavy current so each dive was varied and different. The briefings beforehand were complete and detailed so very few surprises. All in all a GREAT trip! Thanks to all involved!

UW Photo Comments The dive deck also had the camera rinse area and table on it. And my only minor issue was switching chips and batteries. Easily overcome as my cabin was steps away so in the comfort of A/C and a towel the changing went fine. A well organized area and the divers respected the space. The orientation was great because the rules for the camera table were made simple and plain. And best of all they were adhered to. Again, a well oiled machine and it showed.
