"The Galapagos of Mexico" is a fitting description. Mantas(big! lots!) are a guarantee, as are lots of sharks, especially white tips, hammerheads and galapagos and up to 4 other species. Whale sharks and whales are seen in season most years--I've dived with both. Porpoises are commonly dived with. Schools of jacks, freight trains of yellow tail tuna and lots of schooling life are commonly seen. Leave your macro lenses at home. This was my third trip for a total of over 30 days and having done 3 Aggressor trips in Galapagos I can tell you that if Galapagos is a 10 (IT IS), then Socorro is a 9 on the scuba scale--and with a MUCH easier flight and 1/2 the cost. I plan to dive there every 2 or 3 years for the rest of my dive life. Dora and her husband run the company. Dora used to go on most trips, but less so lately. Her influence has not dimmed--the crew, from the experienced captain to the chef are excellent. Anxious to help in any way, including showing you stuff you may have never seen on guided trips instead of just babysitting. The boat is large, as are the rooms and common areas. The boat is a little slow for the long trip. Diving here is exploding--for years only the Solmar 5 and Rocio del Mar regularly dove this area, but now 5 companies do. If you want to dive this area, I suggest sooner rather than later. |

UW Photo Comments | First class rinse tanks and camera table. Cameras carefully handled by the crew. No problems, and Norberto, the engineer, is anxious to help with any repairs, rigging, etc.(as is everyone else). |
