Our dive guide and driver were professional and agreeable. The guide led us inside the Japanese tankers safely and so we could see the whole thing. Very cool. The not so cool was the bumpy 45-minute ride back to the dock after each dive. The boats are made of old waterlogged plywood which deposited many slivers into hands and legs. Buoys don’t rest on the surface, because they don’t want anyone diving without paying, so quite a bit of time was spent back-and-forthing looking for buoys to tie up to. We expected to take more advanced dives as the week went on but as new people showed up, we returned to the same airplane sites several times to accommodate them. On the last dive, my husband went to 175’ on the San Francisco and was over the moon when he got back. The resort grounds are attractive and clean but I found a starving dog from town, distressing. I made friends with the cleaning woman and she took great care of us and our room. A fun fact: people have gold fillings in their front teeth, a very exotic look. |
