Comments This is a very long flying trip. All legs of the flights were on United. All of the flights were on time. Once on Koror, a hotel manager had advised us to look into flying from the west coast to Narita (Japan) then taking a direct flight to Koror. The Palau Pacific Resort (PPR) is the luxury property on the island. A hotel van picked us up from the airport. Transportation on the island is easy and relatively inexpensive or free. A number of restaurants in Koror have their own shuttle vans that will pick you up for meals. Just tip the driver.

Neco Marine is a modern up to date facility, shop and operations. Every aspect of the business I encountered ran smoothly. The dive boats are well maintained, fast and comfortable. The divemaster guides were extremely knowledgable and helpful about local diving and conditions. We did several "corner" dives where reef hooks were required. The divemasters took great care to teach, demostrate and make sure everyone on these dives got hooked in. These current dives were of the highlights of our trip.

The marine life and corals are excellent. We dove one WWII wreck that was beautifully undisturbed. Most of the wrecks sunk during the war are in protected lagoon areas, so they haven't experienced much degradation due to marine and weather conditions.

We did get to snorkel the Jellyfish Lake that recently reopened. There were thousands of the non-stinging jellyfish. The dive staff told us that several years ago, at peak, it was probably four or five times more jellies.

Our one disappointment would be the environmental sensitivity. The locals preach it, but don't necessarily follow. The trip to the Jellyfish Lake is case in point. It is a short hike up and over a ridge on a rough trail to the docks on the lake. All sunscreens are strictly forbidden in this area, with reminder signs. The staff advised us to put your sunscreen on before getting off the boat for the walk to the docks. Sigh.....
