Comments [None]Great variety of dive sites from walls to canyons with swim throughs to coral filled channels. 80 degree water and 80' visibility. Reef sharks on almost every dive, with an occasional bull shark or thresher. Blue Corner deserves its fabulous reputation. You can hang on a reef hook in a ripping current with thousands of fish swirling around you and schools of barracuda a few feet away, and lots of sharks cruising by you, then the next dive with no current and turtles, spotted eagle rays, lettuce coral, etc. German Channel can have 8-10 mantas feeding, sharks herding jacks, octopuses hunting in the rocks, feather tailed stingrays in the sand -- all in one dive. Sam's Tours has great boats and excellent, experienced dive guides who can find almost anything you want to see in these waters.
Both Palau Royal Resort and Palau Pacific Hotel are first class, with beautiful rooms and acceptable food. There are excellent restaurants. The Taj for world class Indian Food, Kramer's for a variety and an Americans hangout.
The bad is that Internet service is slow and spotty and non-existent when it is raining. Cell phone service is good with a local simm card. Verizon works but AT&T does not. No shopping, except for wood carved story boards, dive stuff, a few art and jewelry stores, tourist stuff.
All in all, a great place with lots of WWII history, an excellent day in Pelileu on your surface day, or kayaking. Jellyfish Lake is temporarily closed due to drought damage to the jellyfish.
