Comments The lovely wife Agnieszka and I did the full PADI drysuit training certification with wonderful Polish instructor Kuba of SCUBA Iceland. While the pool training was a bit uncomfortably warm, the two checkout dives in a very chilly Lake Thingvallavatns fully prepared us for the dive we travelled to Iceland for; Silfra in Thingvellir. After certification, it was off to Silfra to dive between the Eurasian and North American tectonic plates. It should be noted that the training, full equipment issuance, check-out dives and Silfra dive, including all-day chaueffering, were conducted for only the wife and I; truly personalized service! Entering the 4 degree Celsius water was breathtaking as well as breathtakingly beautiful! The water clarity, visibility and geology were spectacular, far exceeding the expectations of on-line photos. I did the cliche touching of two continents a couple of times while taking in the spectacular scenery during our 45 minutes underwater under brilliant 21 hours-a-day sunshine. It was one of the most beautiful dives of my life, second only to my first dive on Apo Island. While I rarely ignore explicit Divemaster direction, I had to remove my regulator to sip the 1000 year-old glacial melt filtered by decades flowing through rock. Absolutely DELICIOUS and the perfect serving temperature! Our splendid Silfra dive was followed by snowmobiling the next day. Our time in Reykjavik was wonderful with the only negative/surprise being the cost of restaurant meals, including $20 draft beers. GO!
