Comments When you look at El Galleon one has to really consider and review three items, the rooms (accomodations), the restaurant and the dive shop and dive operations.

The restaurant is the best in the area and the daily specials are a bargain. Local Beer is about $1.25 USD cold and pretty good after diving. There is both a covered and open eating area the serves an extensive menu all day long. We were never disappointed as we ate several meals at the resort during our stay. The food choices and preparation far exceeded our expectations and much better than other restaurants in the area. El Galleon also offers several packages to groups and individuals.

The Scuba Diving with Asia Divers was excellent, the boats left on time, many types of diving from Muck, Coral walls, Canyons, Drifts and Wrecks. Both Nitrox 32 and Air are available. Do yourself a favor and get Nitrox certified before you arrive, you'll be glad you did. Dives are available for all levels of divers, Great visibility 35 - 75ft., great experienced DM's with years of local experience and boat crews. Diving is 5 - 15 mins from the dock and you can easily get in 4 dives a day. We compare it to a liveaboard without the boat. Asia Divers is a first class dive operation who has the only pier for diving and dive operations in Puerto Galera. They dive sites are determined by currents divers experience and your input. Verde Island is a must during your stay. We did 24 dives and never repeated a site. Ask for Ally - She rocks !!

Price for a Nitrox dive was a little under $30.00 USD. We did three dives a day and could easily do 4 with optional night dives for a slight additional cost. Water temp was 81 - 84f. and depending on currents you often had both warm and cool water mixing. Most divers used a 2 or 3mm wetsuit or shorty. I dove with a Lycra skin all week and my wife has a 3/2mm. Bring along a small dive light to look into the many little undercuts and ledges at many of the sites. Bring along a 3-4ft. safety sausage and reel with 40ft. of line. Computers are a must.

My wife and I spent 11 nights at El Galleon in the Penthouse suite. We were expecting the best room in the resort with a great view and were a little disappointed. The view of the ocean was blocked out by trees and vegatation overgrowth, the kitchen was lacking, the refrigerator was in disrepair, the living room does not have its own A/C. It was clean and roomy but we had much higher expectations for the price. It needs some work with new cabinets, refrigerator, kitchen utensils, Microwave, A/C in living room, new living room furniture, and a good tree trimming. The room has lots of potential. Internet connectivity was an issue for us and other guests but the locals seemed to have it working for themselves. The cable TV was nice, hot water showers worked all the time and the towels and room was clean.

We would stay at El Galleon and dive with Asia divers again. Highly recommended. The worst part was the airfare from the US.
