Comments This is a report about a combined Azores and Dumagette Trip. We essentially circled Cebu, ending up back at Dumagette for 4 days. The boat is showing it’s age and some of the cabins are small. Diving was almost exclusively by Zodiac BUT each Zodiac had a ladder to get back in. Zodiac drivers were usually attentive. Early in the trip, one group wasn’t picked up for 30 minutes. They weren’t happy.

Our group was all photographers, with a median age in the late 60s. We found that they tried to push 5 dives a day. This was too much and, after the first dive, subsequent dives kept getting pushed back. It was changed to 4 dives a day.

Off Azores, we saw the usual tropical fish. Highlights included a trevally fish ball and the Thresher dive. Our first dive was with the Whale sharks at Oslob. This was a disappointment because vis was poor and we should have snorkeled and not dived.

At Dumagette, muck diving is the thing and it doesn’t disappoint. Lots of tiny critters. I didn’t go on the optional Apo Island Trip but others did, and enjoyed it.

UW Photo Comments On land, the camera room was great. On the boat, we had one table and it did get crowded. The charge stations were in a corridor leading to the dining room. Adequate but tight. The staff handled the cameras well.
