Comments Atmosphere Resorts and Spa, Dumaguete/Dauin (March 8-19)

Getting here is fairly easy; nonstop from USA to either Manilla or Cebu City, then a short domestic hop to Dumaguete. The resort is about 30 minutes from the airport. (Or, if you are traveling within Cebu Island, it is a short ferry ride to Dumagete, and again about 30 minutes to the resort)

We took it easy and dove just 2 dives a day for 10 days at the end of our Philippines trip. This is an amazing dive operation, attached to a 44 room luxury resort with excellent food, fine dining options, a surprisingly robust wine list, and numerous spa options on site. Thus, the price point was noticeably higher than our two prior dive resorts. (Ballpark, total was 33% more than Crystal Blue Resort, but we definitely thought it was worth the money; YMMV, of course.)

The Dive shop provides all levels of instruction, up to and including certification as an Instructor, and also has a full-scale Tech Diving center. From talking to the other divers on our boat, the shop is willing and able to fix guests’ regulators and other equipment if something goes on the fritz.

Consistent 32% fills to 3000 PSI. Boats ranged from the massive “Victoria,” with capacity and elbow room for 20 divers (and rinse bins for cameras), down to a relatively small speedboat (no rinse bins). Closest Airport Dumagete Getting There We went by passenger ferry from south Cebu Island, but most people will fly in directly from Cebu City or Manila. 30 minutes or so from either the ferry terminal or the airport to the resort.
