Comments It was a bit windy in February. Critter diving was not affected, but 1/2 hour crossings to Apo were choppy. Seas are reputed to lay down in May and June.

Most of the diving is for macro subjects. This place has to be the world capitol for Ghost Pipefish and Painted Frogfish.

The resort runs trips to Apo Island marine sanctuary (30 minutes by boat) where the water is clear and the corals are spectacular. They also do trips across to the community of Oslob on Cebu where you can snorkel with whale sharks while the locals in small outriggers feed the sharks. It was a bit murky the day we were there due to the wind I suspect. But nevertheless it was fun watching the feeding action with the whale sharks suspended vertically with mouths wide open.

The resort owners set out to build a dive resort that catered to divers who like food and wine and boy did they succeed. We had a package with full board; the food was excellent. The cottages were clean and spacious and smartly decorated. The grounds are beautiful. The infinity pool is adjacent to the bar where happy hour is a great way to unwind after a day of diving.

The best way to sum up is to confess to a repeat trip this coming May. Most of our diving is on live-aboards, so Atmosphere Resort was an experiment for us. We've rarely repeated a resort trip. Atmosphere is an exception and we might become regulars there. Overall a great experience.

UW Photo Comments Other places, like Lembeh, get the hype but Atmosphere at Dauin, Negros is every bit as good (and with good clean water). Lots of cool macro. Painted frog fish, large Ghost Pipefish, Flamboyant Cuttlefish, nudibranchs, ... Guides are very good finding critters. Saw many (!) turtles on Apo Island.
