Comments We stayed at two sister resorts, Magic Island and Magic Ocean, which are located relatively near each other, but still require a day's travel between them. The resorts arranged for us to do 2 dives at Cabilao Island enroute. At the first resort, Magic Island on Cebu, the visibility was poor and the water cooler (78 rather than 82) than I expected. We heard various explanations on the lack of visibility. One theory was that since whale sharks are fed off of Oslob, the whale sharks no longer visit off of our resort, clearing the water of the murk. Most of our group of 14 took one day and did snorkel, then dive, with the whale sharks off of Oslob, but 2 of us did not choose this option, having done this a few years ago on an earlier visit to the Philippines. They reported that there were lots of whale sharks, and decent visibility. The visibility vastly improved both at the Cabilao Island stop and at our second resort, Magic Ocean. We saw lots of small stuff like cuttlefish, octopus, nudibranchs, crabs, shrimp, seahorses, pipefish, frog fish, scorpion fish, and dragonets. There were 1 or 2 turtles on most dives.
