I reported last year that I thought the Mantangale Dive Resort is the best dive value I've ever seen. This year was my fifth trip, and they improved even more. Now they will use their big banca to go to dive sites on the far side of Camiguin Island, even with just a few divers on board. It's spacious and comfortable with lots of shade, padded seats, and a toilet. It's not as fast as the speedboat, but is a smooth trip. We went to Old Volcano, with splendid vistas, 100 ft or better viz, and some nice soft coral bushes clinging to the slopes of the old volcano. Cabawn Point also had some really nice soft corals and the dive guide, owner/manager Dodong Uy, found three red pygmy seahorses in a sea fan. The Mantigue dive site had five schools of different fish coming and going. As usual, Paradiso had great soft corals of reds, pinks, yellows, orange, and white. It was like an underwater garden in full bloom. The Mantangale resort offers basic but very clean air conditioned rooms, a good restaurant, a beautiful pool, and lots of amenities for non-divers. They also offer free Nitrox and a lunch as part of every two-tank dive trip. Service is excellent and they'll provide van transports from the Cagayan de Oro airport, which is just a $100 round trip ticket from Manila on Cebu Pacific Airlines. |

UW Photo Comments | Boat will have a rinse bucket and there is a big cameras-only rinse tank at the resort dive shop. The big banca has plenty of space to work on a camera (change lens, etc) safely between dives. Dive shop area has tables but not separate cubicles. |
