Comments The dive shop was run mainly by expats. They hadn't had Americans pass through inn 2 years, but there were lots of Europeans: English, Danish, Italian etc. January was not the best time to dive, but the best time to see the pyramids, so water was colder, more currents, to windy to dive the Thistlegorm. Apr/May or October would have been better and easier for me as a 66 yr old diver but i didn't know that at the time.
In spite of being the only American in Sharm el Sheikh during my 5 day stay, the Egyptians were very curious about me, they were very polite, friendly and a bit amazed that I not only was travelling alone, but still able to dive at 66 although I did take my tanks off in the water before I got back on board.
