The hotel and dive center are located approximately one hour from the airport. The final road was very rough going. We rented an AC room on the beach which turned out to be a smart move as the steps to reception and the upper restaurants were too steep for us to deal with. A shuttle can be called using a hotel provided cell phone. There are no phones, televisions, or radios in the rooms and internet could be spotty. Another hotel issue was a lack of 110v electrical sockets. We had only one located in the sitting area but the hotel supplied a power cord for our electronics. My wife uses a CPAP so we had to request an adapter to set it up by the bed. Scuba St. Lucia was located right on the beach behind the beach restaurant where we took most of our meals. They provide lockers and locks to store gear and took care of regulators and BC's if requested. They had no DIN tanks but provided me with an adapter free of charge. Jay and Gigi were very helpful and solved any problems our group had whether it be a dive or hotel issue. Our package included 12 boat dives, 2 shore dives, and 2 night dives. Other excursions were offered for non-divers along with tours of Jade Mountain resort, the Anse Chastanet grounds, and the local town. All dives were guided by two guides and were restricted to 45-50 minutes or 700 PSI. Most dives were drift dives but the current was mild and I ended most dives with well over 1,000 PSI. Small fish were numerous in spite of the sighting of lionfish on most dives. But, we also saw a number of frogfish and a couple of seahorses. Night dives had octopus and sharptail eels along with a large number of lobsters and crabs. For a marine preserve, we found and opened several large commercial fish traps. Guides stated they were not allowed to touch them only report them to the Marine Rangers. Overall, the trip was very enjoyable and relaxing for divers and non-divers alike. All personnel were very friendly and went out of their way to make us happy. We would certainly return to this location again. |

UW Photo Comments | Boat has only a small rinse tank with little water in it. There is a dedicated rinse tank on shore which I caught one new diver washing his gear with my camera in the tank. The staff quickly emptied the tank and refilled it. The divers response to me: "Don't have a heart attack". No tables were on shore or the boat. |
