Comments I came to see, I saw, I returned and finally I stayed. Been diving here for many years. I call it an extended vacation. For big fish, you have to dive the Grenadine Islands but for "critters" the big island of St Vincent has been rated by Dive Magazine as number 1 in the Caribbean and number 10 in the world. The shore dive available is the House Reef in front of the dive shop but is worth the short walk. Go to [raymondhaberman.smugmug.com link] to see what I have seen. I do mostly macro pictures on "critters." Pictures are posted by the day and show what I observed during that dive. The rest of this report is not an accurate description of the island conditions. Come in the rainy season and you are going to get lots of rain and sun and wind and clouds and dry spells. The water could be calm, choppy, surge and maybe some current. Current is not an every day all day thing. Come in the dry season and you will get the same conditions but less rain. Winter water temps run from 78-82 and in the summer you will get 82-85. It seems that most divers prefer a wetsuit or skin, about a 3-5mm. I have seen 1 shark in 18 years, maybe a dozen mantas, some turtles, no whales or whale sharks. Water vis is usually 100'+ but depends on weather conditions.

UW Photo Comments The dive shop is an extremely old building that is rented from Young Island and was not built for a dive shop. All camera work needs to be done in your hotel room. The only thing for cameras on the boat is a rinse tank. The shop has a rinse tank for dive gear but not for wet suits. It is the weak spot of the operation, but shouldn't be a deterrent to coming down. The main hotels are a very short walk from the shop.
