Comments Ihave just completed a 6 months stay at St Vincent, diving with the "Curmudgeon" Bill Tewes. In that time I did 156 dives, most with the "Curmudgeon." I have observed that most of the divers that he gets surly with are "first time" divers with him. He only gets that way after repeatedly telling them his dive rules and they ignore what he says. I don't know if they feel that the rules don't apply to them or they are to stupid to comprehend.

He doesn't operate a live aboard. There are no warm towels, cookies and hot chocolate between dives. There is always fresh water and candies. There isn't a camera table onboard. You set your camera up in your hotel room. There is fresh water rinse available on the boat. It may not be fancy but it is available. There is no camera table at the dive shop. You take care of that in your hotel room. He has a small shop that has one (1) rinse tank. He will rinse all your gear and store it for the next days dives. He doesn't rinse wetsuits. I sure don't want my mouthpiece rinsed in the same tank with smelly wetsuits.

If you hang on Bill like a cheap suit, you can't help but see more in one dive than you would see in a week of diving anywhere else. If you don't see it, you didn't stay with Bill. In my 6 years of diving with him, I am still amazed at the number of things I see for the first time. Many are NIB"S (Not in Book) and he doesn't know what they are. Pictures are taken and sent to the experts for identification.

All the complaints about LIAT airlines are true. Leave Island Any Time, Luggage In Any Terminal, Lord It's Awful Transport, and Laugh It's All True. The complaints about the "Crumudgeon" should be taken with a large grain of salt. Most of them are personality conflicts that if both sides of the issue were known, they wouldn't be a determining factor for your diving there. If interested in what you can see diving there, email me and I will send you my web site address where a lot of my pictures are posted.
