Comments After a few years of covid related travel restrictions and delays, Palm Island Resort was very accommodating about extending our deposit without penalty or surcharge. Flying to Barbados and then connecting to a multi stop short island hopper flight finally delivered us to Union Island. We were greeted at the one room airport and a 3 minute van ride to the dock, followed by a 15 minute boat transfer to the Palm Island Resort. The resort staff handled all of our luggage and delivered everything to our room. There are various accommodation levels available at the resort. We arranged our own diving independently with Glenroy Adams' Grenadine Dive, and although with some email delays he was flexible and responsive in scheduling/rescheduling our dives. Once I initiated using WhatsApp, (both email and phone calls) communication were much easier. The pick up at our dock was punctual, and the rental gear was fitted and set up while still in the calm waters of the bay/lagoon. With a 30 minute crossing in rolling, but not sea sick seas, we approached the various small islands comprising the Tobago Cays, providing protection for dive sites with calm waters. The boat was basic (no camera tables or fresh water rinse)but roomy enough for our small group (three divers), Service was excellent as we did not have to setup or switch out our own gear, and instructor/dive guide asked about our preferences for dive sites. Two identical drift dives at different sites with max. depth of 50' w/ 45 minutes bottom time, separated by a short surface interval and the second dive. Both dives were enjoyable, but unremarkable. We had dove the same sites fifteen years ago, and the WOW factor of coral health and fish life has now disappeared. Although not a dedicated dive destination, it was quite pleasant and no stress diving, even though a very remote location where you might expect a more remarkable report. The PalmIsland Resort is top notch, and if asked, they will arrange diving with Grenadine Dive or another local operator that operates a larger boat and not as much customized experience. Dives were $80 each, per person, with the two tank $160 cost probably higher due to the remote location. Visibility probably would have been better if a tropical wave (which days later became Hurricane Ian devastating parts of west coast of Florida) had not stirred things up a couple of days after our arrival.
