Comments I contacted Dive Adventure to use their boat and shop to conduct my TDI Nitrox and SDI Advanced Adventure Diving course for a married couple out of Bangkok that wanted to travel and see Koh Chang.

Andi (the manager) was very helpful and said it was no problem to tag along on the boat for the weekend. He went out of his way to accommodate my needs and gas requirements.

Koh Chang has two ex-Thai Navy purpose sunk ships, the HTMS Chang (elephant) is the longest wreck in dive-able waters (100m length) in Thailand and is for more advanced diving as is it in 30 meters and has some light to medium current. The ship was supposed to be prepped for divers but the contractor did a poor job so it is an advanced wreck to penetrate.

The newest wreck on the other hand was prepped enough that all spaces are in the light zone. With big opening and all hatches removed. This is another Thai Navy ship (T11) a 30meter gun boat in 17 meters we dove it after only being in the water for 3 days. Great to show new wreck divers and training them here was a breeze.

We had an easy time and Dive Adventure gave us a warm welcome. I will use them again next time I am training or just need a ride to the wrecks.

The bad point (if you can call it that) is the walk to the boat is a hike but the dive shop provides carts to take all our gear to the boat.
The annoy thing about all of Thailand are the motorcycles they still drive on the "sidewalk" even though the pier to the boats is only wide enough for two/three people to walk side-by-side so watch out!

The rooms at Oceanblue are very nice if you are on a budget and midway between the dive shop and the boat so don;t bring a lot of luggage because you will have to carry it. For the price (about $18 a night) Don't expect more than a clean room and the family that runs the house are very nice.

Food is fresh and a few steps from the hotel and have good view of the sunsets. There is a well stocked 7 11 at the start of the pier so your water/snack need are there.

Not much of a night life unless you travel back in the the more populated towns but I go for the diving so not a big deal for me or my student although they look a little disappointed...

Over all Koh Chang is slow and in need of some more divers. At the moment if you want to be in a dive site without a 100 other divers, this is the place! The water is clear and with good viz, the wrecks are new so you can watch them change as the years pass, there is not too much current, making it easy to dive at all levels.

With 4 more wrecks planned, this should be a "must dive" destination in the near future.
