Comments I've been remiss in submitting a report, but as it turned out, the delay was fortunate. As reported in Undercurrent a few issues ago, Bohio Dive Resort went bankrupt sometime in 2022. I would have been upset knowing my positive review resulted in visitors being disappointed and possibly losing money.
I fully paid in December 2019 for a week during March 2020, just in time for COVID-19 to shut down the world. Although Bohio wouldn't refund my payment, I was told they would honour the reservation whenever I decided to come. This happened December 2021 and they were true to their word.
Wall dives and cuts made the location interesting. Some reefs were almost devoid of fish life. Others were full. A few lion fish were speared and fed to a couple of moray eels. Two and sometimes three white tip sharks would emerge every time we entered the water. They would swim by at a distance, reverse and swim back the other way. At each pass they would come closer and at some point decided to leave. I asked about this behaviour and was told that a nearby dive operation feed the sharks. That's why they return when divers are in the water. A big no-no in my books.
Bohio upped their dive game from the time I was last there with a new purpose-built dive boat; fast and comfortable. The rooms and property were clean and well maintained. The food was consistently delicious.
Good AC, wi-fi connections and reliable electricity. If Bohio opens up, I would consider returning, but first of all making sure I had adequate insurance for what befell the resort.
