Comments We loved Bohio. The set up is completely diver friendly. We met the dive masters the first day, got our gear straight, and then left it to them. The rental gear was new and in great repair. There was a fresh water rinse tank for wetsuits, etc. and a convenient space to hang everything. We loved diving with both Jesse and Ollie; they were both very patient with less experienced divers; more experienced divers could extend their dives (with just the 500 psi guideline). The dive sites are very close to shore so short boat rides and the surface intervals were at the resort. Morning boats left around 9 so no rushing; most dives had 3-6 divers. Afternoon and night dives could be arranged, but we stuck just to our two morning dives.

Our package included 5 days of two-tank diving with breakfast and lunch included. We were a little concerned about this having had bad experiences with all inclusive packages in the past. But the food was both plentiful and delicious. You do need to be prepared for the cost of dinner and drinks. Entrees were around $30-40 but, again, really well prepared and tasty. It was the end of the week before we figured out that we should have saved some fruit from breakfast for the surface interval; nothing was offered at that time. On the two days when the cruise ships were in, there were a ton of people on the beach (some of them quite surly) but the resort does a good job of keeping chairs, space, and the pool available to hotel guests. Because the resort only has 16 units, I'm sure they need to cruise ship business to stay afloat. It was really only a minor irritant and the rest of the week the beach was pretty deserted. The staff was really friendly and worked hard to make us comfortable. The rooms were clean and comfortable; we had a fridge, bottled water, and access to ice. Any minor concerns were attended to promptly.

Our first dive was marked by a serious current but the rest of the week, it was like diving in an aquarium. Very calm, mostly clear, and relaxed. We saw turtles, large grouper, huge crabs, lobsters, and tons of colorful juvenile fish. The corals were stunning. The snorkeling from the beach was pretty nice; not a ton of fish but we saw barracuda, flounder, and puffers.

If you want a very relaxed vacation, stress-free diving, and lots of lounging time, this is the place. I hope we have the opportunity to return!

I thought that the cruise ships were only in the south. Do they get taxied up there to Bohio?

Yes, they come in taxis. One ship was ok but the one later in the week was full of surly, unhappy people who bullied the staff and were NOT having a good time. Yuck. But, it was a minor inconvenience in an otherwise fantastic week.
