Comments Gormet food and great bar. The diving is very close to the resort so there is no long boat ride. Best beach on the island so it gets crowded when the cruise ships are in. Boats are open panga style and some divers are very nervous about leaving the boat unattended during the dive. NOT A GOOD IDEA,but that's the way they do it on Grand Turk! We had 10+ divers on two boats and that was too much for one person to handle. The dive staff consisted on one person and he developed a personal problem with one of the divers which affected everyone on board. The dive shop manager/boat captain/deck hand/tank boy/equipment specialist was overworked and as a result was not always "plesant" with some of the divers. A second boat was contracted to help with 20+ divers and the second boat used a deck hand which did help. The resort owners are absolutely great and will do anything in their control to make your stay enjoyable. The rooms are clean, cool, and very satisfactory for a Caribean resort(do not expect 5 star).
Downtown seems to have taken a turn for the worst since the cruise ships arrived. We were hassled at the grocery store by panhandlers that will not take no for an answer and became abusive.
A last warning about the airport on Provo. It is the worst I have ever seen! With 4 to 6 flights leaving in the afternoon, the departure lounge, which can comfortably hande a couple of hundred,is unbearble with 800-1000 people cramed in. No air, no seats,no place to even sit on the floor. Totally unaceptable! The airport itself is reason enough to stay away from Turks and Cacios until the situation is addressed.
